Miller & Associates worked with the World Theatre Foundation to restore and renovate the historic World Theatre in downtown Kearney, Nebraska. Originally constructed in 1926, the theatre had long served as a community landmark. The foundation's vision was to return the building to its original character while incorporating the modern amenities needed to support contemporary performances and events. Working in collaboration with Lahaina Architects, our team provided architectural design development, construction documents, and construction administration services throughout the renovation.

The project carefully balanced historic preservation with modern functionality. The renovated theatre features seating for more than 400 patrons, including accessible seating and a restored balcony. The building was updated to meet ADA accessibility standards, and a new lobby and concessions area was created to better accommodate community gatherings and special events. Exterior improvements included restoration of the iconic marquee and the addition of a custom mahogany ticket booth, reinforcing the theatre's historic presence along the downtown streetscape.

Modern enhancements, including a new movie screen, projection system, and upgraded seating, were seamlessly integrated while preserving the theatre's historic atmosphere. Completed in 2012, the renovated World Theatre once again serves as a cultural icon for the Kearney community, providing an authentic theater experience while supporting a wide variety of performances, films, and community events.

We provide our clients with innovative and cost-effective engineering and consulting solutions, while maintaining the highest level of professional integrity and service.
