Water Treatment Facilities

About

Miller & Associates provides engineering services for water treatment facilities that help communities deliver safe, reliable drinking water while meeting regulatory requirements and long-term operational needs. Our team designs treatment systems that address water quality concerns, improve system performance, and support dependable water service for residential, commercial, and industrial users.

We evaluate source water conditions, treatment requirements, system capacity, operational efficiency, and future growth needs to develop practical and cost-effective treatment solutions tailored to each community. Our experience includes treatment processes for contaminants such as nitrates, arsenic, manganese, radionuclides, iron, and other water quality concerns, as well as facility upgrades, system expansions, and process optimization improvements.

Throughout planning, permitting, design, and construction, we coordinate closely with operators, regulatory agencies, contractors, and community leaders to ensure facilities integrate effectively with existing infrastructure and comply with applicable standards. Our approach emphasizes operational reliability, maintainability, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability to help communities maintain safe drinking water systems.

Miller & Associates partnered with the City of Buhler to design and construct a new water treatment facility that addresses longstanding water quality concerns and strengthens the City’s drinking water infrastructure. The project was developed to remove naturally occurring arsenic and manganese, helping the City maintain regulatory compliance while providing a dependable supply of high-quality drinking water.

Our team provided both engineering and architectural services, integrating treatment processes with a durable, functional facility designed for long-term operation. The approximately $1.9 million treatment plant was constructed using stone, block, and prestressed concrete to provide durability, resilience, and low-maintenance performance.

The facility incorporates numerous operational features to improve maintenance and efficiency, including natural daylighting, oversized equipment access doors, and removable wall panels that simplify future equipment replacement. These design elements enhance daily operations while reducing long-term maintenance costs and extending the useful life of the facility.

The completed facility provides the City of Buhler with a modern water treatment plant designed to deliver reliable service, protect public health, and support the community.
